Boo Han immigrated to America from South Korea and settled in Lakewood on March 3, 1973. He settled his family into a 400-square-foot home along Lakeview and started a tofu manufacturing company in a nearby garage he built. He later started a grocery store for Asia products along South Tacoma Way. It was expanded in 1990 to keep up with demand after the demolition see below. That 35,000-square-foot store is now the heart of the International District that offers several hundred businesses operated by people of Asian heritage. Han and his family operate grocery store in Edmonds.
